Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 24 March 2026
By using Solar Sim Lab ("the Service") you agree to these terms. They're written to be readable, not intimidating.
1. What this tool is
Solar Sim Lab is a solar decision engine and savings estimator. You put in your location and electricity usage, and it gives you a rough idea of whether solar is worth it for your home.
That's it. It's a starting point for your research — not a quote, not a guarantee, and not financial advice.
2. What the numbers mean
The estimates are based on publicly available solar irradiance data and typical electricity rates for your area. They assume a reasonably well-installed system with no shading and average conditions.
Real-world results vary. Your roof might be awkward. Your installer might be great or terrible. Electricity rates change. The numbers this tool gives you are a ballpark, not a promise. Check your inputs
Don't sign a contract based solely on what this tool tells you. While We're extreamly confident in the service you should use this as a single point in your research.
3. Getting quotes from installers
We don't vet, recommend, or have any relationship with solar installers. If you use this tool to go get quotes, that's between you and them.
Some installers are excellent. Some will oversell you. Ask for references, check reviews, and get at least two or three quotes before committing to anything.
4. What we're not responsible for
- Inaccurate estimates — they're estimates, see above
- Decisions you make based on those estimates
- Any installer you choose to contact or deal with
- Changes to electricity rates, feed-in tariffs, or government rebates that affect your actual returns
5. Your data
If you use the free version, we don't store anything about you. If you create an account, we store your email and the details needed to run your simulations. We don't sell your data.
You can ask us to delete your account and all associated data at any time by emailing privacy@solarsimlab.com. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
6. Paid features
Payment is handled by Stripe. If something goes wrong with a payment, email us and we'll sort it out.
The Residential licence is a one-time payment. The Installer licence is a monthly subscription you can cancel any time.
7. Accounts
You need to be 18 or over to create an account. Don't share your login — accounts are for individual use.
8. Fair use
Don't scrape the Service, resell access, or hammer the API with automated requests. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that abuse the platform.
9. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes we'll let you know by email or in-app notice before they take effect.
